Wexford ended a 10 year wait to become Leinster Senior Champions on Friday evening in Netwatch Cullen Park when they overcame Dublin in an incredible Final.
Dublin had the better of the first half and had a comfortable 0-14 to 0-5 point lead at half time. In an amazing turnaround, Wexford seemed revitalised after the break and started to eat into the Dublin lead. When the clock hit the 60 minute mark there were 3 points between the teams with the scoreboard reading 0-17 to 0-14 and Wexford were in need of inspiration. It came from Linda Bolger when her shot nestled in the Dublin net and the game ended level at full time and extra time faced the teams.
During extra time there was little between the teams with the scores still level at the break. When play resumed it was Wexford that finished that little bit stronger to claim an amazing victory on a scoreline of 1-21 to 0-21
Well done to both teams on a memorable Final when nothing more could be asked of every single player. Congratulations to Wexford on a famous win.
Thank you to our friends at Carlow GAA and Carlow Camogie for making the occasion so special. We continue to be indebted for your continued support.
