The Leinster Camogie Convention was formally opened by Leinster Camogie Chairperson Martin Quilty on Saturday, 10 January 2026, as delegates from all Leinster counties gathered at the Riverside Park Hotel in Enniscorthy. The annual convention was hosted by Wexford Camogie, who were widely praised for their warm hospitality and exemplary organisation.

Delegates were welcomed by Wexford Camogie officers, who also took the opportunity to showcase the county. Attendees received a sponsored gift from Wexford Preserves, along with Wexford tourism information supported by Wexford County Council, while a sample of O’Neill’s bacon added a distinctly local flavour to the reception.

In his opening address, Mr Quilty reflected on the year’s competitions and extended his congratulations and thanks to counties, clubs, officers and volunteers throughout the province. While acknowledging the challenges faced during 2025, he described it as a year defined by progress, pride and achievement for Leinster Camogie.

The Chairperson also paid tribute to Ailish Whitty of Wexford, who has declared her intention to contest the Camogie Association Presidency as the election process begins in 2026. Mr Quilty praised her deep knowledge of the game, proven leadership and unwavering commitment to players at all levels, describing her as an outstanding candidate to lead camogie into its next phase. He noted that such a role would be fitting recognition of her years of dedication, vision and lasting contribution to the sport.

A minute’s silence was observed in memory of all those bereaved during 2025 before the formal business of the convention commenced. A full agenda followed, including the adoption of standing orders, presentation of reports and the election of officers.

The Leinster Executive was confirmed as follows: Chairperson Martin Quilty (Kilkenny); Vice Chairperson John Weir (Westmeath); Secretary Ciara Carroll(Laois); Treasurer Ann Coffey (Meath); PRO Alan Harris (Offaly); Registrar Sheila Norris (Kilkenny); Development Officer Linda Leavy (Meath); Ard Chomhairle Delegate Ailish Whitty (Wexford); and Children’s Officer Elma O’Connell (Kilkenny).

Constructive and lively debate took place on motions from the floor, followed by the draw for the 2026 Adult Championship fixtures. Wexford Camogie will open their Leinster Senior Championship campaign at home against Kilkenny on the weekend of 25/26 April 2026.

Proceedings concluded on a memorable note with a rendition of Amhrán na bhFiann by Anna Sugrue of St Martin’s Camogie Club.

Wexford Camogie were warmly commended for the high standards achieved in hosting a successful and well-run Leinster Camogie Convention.
