Ballinamere/Durrow will play in the AIB Leinster Junior A Semi Final despite it being their first year fielding an adult team
The action continues this weekend in our AIB Leinster Club Championships with a number of clubs making their debut at provincial level.
Most notable is the clash of Ballinamere/Durrow and Clough Ballacolla in the Junior A Senior Final. Incredibly it is Ballinamere/Durrow’s first year fielding a team at adult level in Offaly and they took it in their stride and went on to win the County’s Intermediate title. Their opponents, Clough/Ballacolla are also relative newcomers having only being in existence for ten years. Last weekend, two second half goals helped them win over Dunderry to set up this weekend’s clash.
Other clubs playing in Leinster for the first time include Crookedwood, Craanford/Monaseed and Emeralds. Crookedwood will take on Kildare Champions, Johnstownbridge in the second Junior A Semi Final after having the honour of lifting the Pauline Leonard Memorial Cup when they won the first ever Intermediate Final in Westmeath.
In Wexford, Craanford/Monaseed overcame Duffry Rovers in the County Intermediate decider and their reward is Quarter Final meeting with Knockananna who this year won the Wicklow Championship for the seventh time in a row.
Also in the our Intermediate Championship, Emeralds make their provincial bow after they claimed the Kilkenny Intermediate title with a three goal win over Mooncoin. Their opponents Mount Leinster Rangers dethroned Leinster and All Ireland Champions Camross last weekend and will no doubt put up a stiff test to the new comers from the Marble County.
Elsewhere, the 2025 Leinster Intermediate Finalists and five in a row Meath Champions, Na Fianna will go head to head with Clonkill who retained their Westmeath title when they beat Raharney for the second year in a row in the County decider.
Wrapping up the Intermediate Quarter Finals, Naas who recently claimed five in a row in Kildare will take on Dublin Senior 2 Champions, Ballinteer St Johns.
